Arcturus Networks to Present Grande Finale Panel Discussion at New VoIP Developer Conference in San Jose

TORONTO, July 28, 2004 — Arcturus Networks Inc. today announced that it will be presenting the final Grande Finale panel discussion at TMC’s new VoIP Developer Conference at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California. The conference will conclude on August 4th with “The Consumer VoIP Food Chain” presented by Arcturus, CEO Jeff Dionne and includes participation by Renesas Technologies, analyst firm RHK and Vtech.

“We are very pleased that Arcturus will be participating in this first VoIP Developer Conference. Arcturus is widely recognized and respected as an innovator and leader in consumer VoIP, and I am confident that our attendees will appreciate the insight that CEO Jeff Dionne and the other participants will share during the Consumer VoIP Food Chain panel discussion,” said TMC president and conference co-chair, Rich Tehrani.

The Grande finale panel discussion will address the complete product food chain required to deliver VoIP services to consumers including software/hardware vendors, OEMs, and service providers. Panelists will focus on OEM and service provider requirements and how hardware and software vendors address these considerations. Beginning with the feature, cost, size, and support challenges faced by an OEM, the discussion will evolve to include service provider provisioning, privacy, and management needs. The presenters will discuss specific solutions including how semiconductor product portfolios address VoIP devices inducing the integration of crypto blocks and DSPs, codec, codec identification, and package types. Finally, the panel will address the considerations of embedded software environments including the unique software issues faced by consumer VoIP devices such as custom signaling integration, network topology traversal, device recovery, QoS, remote management, and provisioning.

VoIP Developer Conference is a two-day event focused on educating those people interested in building the next generation of IP-based communications products and services. The conference will be a rich combination of traditional presentation-based sessions and actual demo sessions. The goal is to provide developers new to IP telephony with all the tools they need to begin developing applications immediately. There are also many sessions designed to ensure developers already involved with VoIP are current with all standards and protocols.

“TMC’s VoIP Developers Conference is unique as it provides an opportunity for companies to roll up their sleeves and discuss the details of VoIP technologies,” said Jeff Dionne. “Our panel will provide rich insight for participants about the product needs and technology hurdles encountered in rolling out Consumer VoIP and CPE class devices. We are pleased to be working so closely with our industry partners and colleagues to offer this in-depth discussion.”

“In the last few years there has been an explosion of growth in the IP telephony market and investment in this space has grown tremendously once again. The opportunities in IP telephony continue to multiply as the government, consumers, corporations and service providers all begin to deploy the latest IP telephony solutions,” continued Tehrani. “This is the one event that every developer and program manager in the communications space needs to attend in order to learn the state of the market as well as the future of VoIP and the development opportunities it affords them.”
