SECURE WIRELESS RESIDENTIAL GATEWAY FIRMWARE SUITE ADDRESSES NEED FOR SECURITY AND PRIVACY IN HOME / SOHO NETWORKS.
Toronto, August 19, 2003 — Arcturus Networks Inc. today announced the availability of a secure wireless Residential Gateway firmware product that targets the exploding wireless home networking and hotspot markets.
Arcturus AIRmarshal™
AIRmarshal™ is a complete firmware suite designed to address the existing security concerns of wireless access points. In addition to standard Wired Equivalency Protocol (WEP), Wireless Protected Access (WPA) or 802.1x, Arcturus has developed a modular security architecture capable of delivering VPN level security and RADIUS triple-A services (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting).
The basic AIRmarshal architecture consists of core networking functions, including routing, IP address assignment, bridging and access point firmware. Wireless security is provided by Key Exchanges, VPN tunnelling and encryption, including support for popular security architectures already built into the Windows® operating system and industry standard IPsec. The AIRmarshal architecture is scalable from low-end RG WAPs to wireless hotspot access devices and includes on-board failsafe remote upgrading firmware to minimize in-field product support.
Other features include those offered by Arcturus MIBflex™ and SentryVPN™ such as SNMP / Web device management, secure networking, including stateful Firewalling, network and port translation, DHCP client/server, intrusion detection / logging and Application Layer Gateways.
“The real differentiator for AIRmarshal, is its simplicity to the end user, it works seamlessly with MIBflex, our web and SNMP based management system.” Said D. Jeff Dionne, CEO. “This means our major OEM and carrier customers can see a real advantage when deploying an AIRmarshal enabled device, because it will reduce their support burden and provide their customers with privacy and piece-of-mind.”
AIRmarshal is available on all popular architectures, including ARM and MIPS, and can be deployed on devices with or without PCI bus support. AIRmarshal can also take advantage of hardware cryptography accelerators found in many popular SoC microcontrollers. Wireless access point software supports various industry leading single and dual mode chipsets including those from companies such as Atheros® and Intersil®.
